Macushield may help sufferers and people with family history of macular degeneration, especially if over age 50.

With age and poor diet, the macula pigments tend to decrease, leading to risk of macular degeneration and sight problems.

There are other supplements that contain lutein and zeaxanthin. Past research with these have given mixed results. Quite recently, it has been discovered that adding meso-zeaxanthin makes a significant improvement. Opticians on the high street often recommend Macushield.

Macushield contains meso-zeaxanthin, lutein and zeaxanthin at optimum levels to benefit the eye.

A recent survey has shown that macular degeneration improvement was highest amongst optometric practices using Macushield (Loughman L (2011) AMD research study for optometrists: current practice in the Republic of Ireland and UK. Optometry in Practice. 12 (4): pp135-144 )

Scientific research has shown improvement in patients using Macushield and is being recommended by opticians in the UK.

Lack of these pigments in eyes can lead to macular degeneration, known as wear and tear causing vision loss.
